The founder of Lawrie, Donald launched the business in 2010, with a clear vision of offering his clients a very different IP experience.

Donald Lawrie

Donald oversees the growth and development of the Lawrie team, but remains a specialist in chemistry, chemical engineering, materials, and pharmaceuticals.

He has particular expertise in small molecules, compounds for medical uses including treatment and imaging, functional materials, oil and gas technologies, compositions of matter, formulations, food technologies, chemical apparatus and processes, organic semi-conductors, biofuels and renewable energies, and polymers.

Having the best part of 20 years’ experience, Donald likes to work collaboratively with businesses to design and implement usable IP strategies. This includes building IP portfolios, ensuring freedom
to operate and providing guidance on good IP management practice. He specialises in drafting and

prosecution of global patent families, oppositions at the European Patent Office, due diligence reviews, freedom to operate, patentability and validity opinions, ownership advice, IP audits, vendor
IP reports and advising on IP in preparation for investment or sale.
