The Intellectual Property team for dynamic brands and forward thinking minds.

Caring for ideas that build a better tomorrow.

The start

Lawrie was launched by Donald Lawrie in 2010, with a mission to create a very different kind of IP business.

Knowing how difficult it can be for businesses and innovators to manage their IP, Donald built a team of skilled experts, all with the ability to guide and support clients on their IP journey and, equally importantly, who truly care about their clients and their businesses.

Our team at Lawrie really gets to the core of what our clients need – often, it’s more than simply protecting their IP and evolves into a partnership that forges long-term, sustainable strategies.

Donald

We’re growing but remain true to our core principles: bespoke advice, personal service and genuine care and respect for both our people and our clients. That’s what makes us unique. We care about helping your business do exactly what we’ve done ourselves: build a better future.

Our unshakeable core values

diane

Every single member of our team cares for ideas that build a better tomorrow. That’s why we do what we do. We believe that we work more efficiently and more effectively as a team, which is why teamwork is a pillar of our business.

Conscientiousness is at the heart of all we do. We strive to always do the right thing, and to do things well and properly. But we are also driven by innovation – we always aim to improve our offering, our business and our working environment.

Underpinning all this is our value of fairness and respect – for our clients, our colleagues and ourselves.

Our values guide everything we do and every decision we make. They ensure that we have meaningful and mutually respectful relationships with our clients, our people and our wider network.

Our commitments

Corporate Social Responsibility, Charity and Community

Not only do we care for our clients, at Lawrie we also know that our people support causes close to their hearts and we strongly encourage this. We empower our team to be as conscientious outside the workplace as they are within it.

We are active in identifying organisations and charities that benefit from our support and commit to working with them whenever we can, whether that’s through fundraisers or charitable events.

We intend to develop our charitable and CSR work as our business evolves, so we can extend the support we’re offering already.

Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

At Lawrie, we’re fully committed to creating an inclusive and diverse community within our workplace and are a signatory of the ‘IP Inclusive Charter’.

We’re working to develop diversity within our team by encouraging everyone to express their views and ideas, and others to listen with fairness and respect.

Regularly attending team webinars and events on inclusion, we openly discuss topics important to the team. We’re also active in discussing and delivering mental health and wellbeing initiatives, raising awareness and making sure that each and every member of our team is fully supported.

Our ‘People Group’ is empowered to co- ordinate and implement these initiatives – this includes understanding feedback from our team about what support should be in place and how this should be made available.

Shape

Environment

Our team, both collectively and individually, cares about the impact we have on our environment.

We’ve appointed a ‘Green Champion’ and are always exploring how we can be more sustainable. Committed to minimising our negative impact on the planet and encouraging positive action, we work hard towards a greener future not only for ourselves, but for our clients, our local community and the wider world.

We believe we are the first – and only – IP firm in the UK that has pledged to reach net-zero emissions by 2030 – and we are confident we can do this even sooner. Our Green Champion is also Zero Waste Scotland Certified.

By measuring emissions from across our business, we’ve created a comprehensive carbon footprint tracker, so we can understand where we can effectively improve our environmental impact.
