Terry Devlin

European Patent Attorney

With 20 years’ experience in the patent profession, Terry’s core area of expertise lies in the field of engineering.

Terry is highly experienced in the drafting and prosecution of UK, European and International patent applications in general mechanical engineering, oil and gas, renewables, power generation, automotive and aerospace engineering, agricultural and recycling machinery, and polymer processing and composite materials.

Having studied at Western Michigan School of Aviation Sciences and worked for several national airlines in both engineering and flight operations, Terry has also developed a particular expertise in aeronautical engineering, including aircraft systems, structures, power plants and anti-icing technology.

In the automotive field, Terry has undertaken a substantial amount of patent drafting and prosecution work in vehicle suspension and braking systems, drivetrain systems including polymer composite gearbox components, polymer and composite exterior and interior parts, and in specialist vehicles such as amphibious passenger vehicles, armoured and tactical vehicles, buses, agricultural and rail trailers, HGVs and mobile materials handling equipment.

Terry takes great pride in obtaining legally and commercially well-informed IP for his clients and has been recognised for this through inclusion in the 2023 and 2024 editions of the IAM Strategy 300 guide to the World’s Leading IP Strategists.

  • Member of the Institute of Professional Representatives before the European Patent Office (EPI)
  • International Member of the Irish Association of Patent and Trade Mark Attorneys (APTMA)
